Andrew Thomson is also at risk of losing his role after no-confidence motions lodged by two of their fellow executive members found support among clubs.
Four clubs have formally backed the motions, made by netball chairwoman Andrea Richardson and Andrew Berry at a meeting on September 16.
Their support has sparked the convening of a Special General Meeting of the league, set down for October 14 at the A. L. Lane Community Centre.
The Standard has confirmed three of the four clubs who requested the SGM. But whether it has the legal foundation to go ahead remains to be seen.
The Standard understands McSween and Thomson are yet to learn the reasons why the four clubs backed the no-confidence motions.
Officials from three of the four confirmed they requested the SGM but would not elaborate on why.
Criticism of general manager Dianne Membery by Thomson is believed to be among them.
That lack of formal notification is one of two concerns the pair have about the legitimacy of the process.
The second is the timing, less than two months before the WDFNL annual general meeting.
Questions remain whether an issue which could be dealt with at an AGM can be the subject of a SGM.
McSween, Thomson and Membery are up for re-election this year, meaning clubs would get a say on their futures regardless.
The Standard has been unable to confirm if clubs have the power to remove McSween and Thomson at the SGM should the no-confidence motions succeed.
Parties on either side of the debate have sought advice on the process of late.
The divisions stem back to a sarcastic piece written by Thomson about the bottom-of-the-ladder clash between Russells Creek and Deakin University in the round 11 match-day program.
The piece earned Thomson, who refused to apologise, a severe reprimand. Kangaroos chairman Rod Barker said at the time the club was content with the punishment.
McSween, Thomson and Berry declined to comment on Friday while Richardson failed to return a call.
