King carried his bat in making 101 not out in the True Blues’ 4-223 in a VPC second XI one-day match against Geelong at Toorak Park on Friday.
The knock included just nine boundaries but came from 140 balls – figures which reflect his ability to keep the score ticking along without hitting out.
Another emerging Warrnambool cricketer, Ben Rantall, snared 1-38 from 7.3 overs in the afternoon as the Cats replied with 3-229 to win the round one fixture.
King and Rantall grew up playing with Warrnambool and District Cricket Association club Dennington and were regular Western Waves representatives.
King also donned the whites for Victoria at under 17 level in December and months later capped off a career-best summer with selection in the WDCA team of the year, having made 559 runs at an average of 40.
