State agriculture minister Jaala Pulford said the government was partnering with the Gardiner Dairy Foundation to deliver the $3.3 million ImProving Herds project.
The project will demonstrate how innovative science, including genetic and genomic evaluation on farm testing and data driven decision-making ,delivers increased profits to dairy farmers.
The state government has previously partnered with the Gardiner Dairy Foundation on other projects including the Feed Saved breeding value that uses a genetic test to enable farmers to select livestock based on their feed efficiency.
