The Naringal Baptist Church is hosting an event from 7pm at the Allansford Public Hall, in support of grassroots not-for-profit Eagles Wings.
One of the event’s organisers, Simone Younger, said the night would include an auction of about 60 donated goods and a presentation from Zambian teacher Wesley Mazenta, from the village of Ndola.
“He’ll talk about Zambian life and the needs in the community and specifically about the programs Eagles Wings do there and the impact they have,” she said.
“A lot of businesses have donated vouchers and a number of them have given goods to auction off.
“We’re expecting about 100 people and raised $7000 last year, so we’d like to get close to that again.”
Mrs Younger, a former Warrnambool resident, spent three months teaching children in Zambia, while her husband Jeff worked on building a science lab for a village school in 2013.
She said Eagles Wings sponsored vulnerable students in the village but also provided them with homes and educated adults.
