Former Warrnambool forward Will Couch, teenage defender Tom Lynch and off-season recruits Tim McPherson and Michael Darmody became Koroit premiership players on Saturday.
Couch, 20, said “there was no better feeling” after playing in a winning grand final against his former side Warrnambool.
Koroit coach Adam Dowie moved the crumbing forward on to a wing to give the slow-starting Saints run.
"Dowie being Dowie flicked the board around and said 'righto, let's see what we can do here',” Couch said.
"So he put me on a wing on (Kurt) Lenehan.”
Couch said the Saints embraced the challenge.
“A lot of the older blokes knew what they were doing, knew how to take the pressure. Us younger fellas had to go with it and perform the way they expected,” he said.
