Cobden shoots down Eagles

COBDEN is through to its first Hampden league grand final since 2007 after ending North Warrnambool Eagles' season today with a 52-point preliminary final triumph.

The Bombers shot down the Eagles' hopes of a first grand final berth with a stunning display that included a 9.2 to 4.2 third quarter at Warrnambool's Reid Oval.

Cobden's players headed to Warrnambool's Lady Bay shortly after the match in a bid to aid their recovery for next Saturday's grand final showdown with minor premier Warrnambool.

The Bombers' 19.8 (122) to 10.10 (70) result was their ninth win from their past 11 games.

In the A grade netball preliminary final, Warrnambool eliminated minor premier Camperdown in extra time with a four-goal triumph.

The Blues face Koroit in the grand final. The 55-51 result left Camperdown shattered. It had set the pace all season - it won the western region state league pre-season competition, the state final of that competition and then won 17 out of its 18 home-and-away matches. But it exited in straight sets, defeated in extra time in the past two matches.

The final scores were:

Seniors: Cobden 19.8  (122)  defeated  North Warrnambool Eagles 10.10     (70)

Reserves: Camperdown 10.7 (67) defeated South Warrnambool 7.9 (51)

Under 18s: Terang Mortlake 11.7 (73) defeated South Warrnambool 5.7 (37)
