A CANCER fund-raiser dubbed the Road to Recovery is hoping to attract 400 people.
The speedway racing community will host the fund-raiser on Sunday, October 14, to raise money for Warrnambool sprintcar racer Steven Trigg.
Mr Trigg was diagnosed with t-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma in July and has been undergoing chemotherapy.
Friend and fellow sprintcar racer Tim Van Ginneken said 200 tickets had already been sold and Australian sprintcar star Max Dumesny will be one of the guest speakers.
Mr Van Ginneken said about 50 businesses had supported the event.
“Every time it’s mentioned people are happy to give something,” he said.
“Steve’s going well. He’s about to have his third lot of chemotherapy and then he should know how he is.
“He’s still cruising along. He doesn’t really see what all the fuss is about.” Mr Van Ginneken said if Mr Trigg got the all clear in the coming months, the money raised would go to other cancer fund-raisers.
The Road To Recovery will be held at the Flying Horse Bar and Brewery on Sunday, October 14 at 12.30pm.
Tickets are $20 and include finger food.
They are available from Mr Van Ginneken on 0458 521 881.
