Warrnambool City Council will vote on a recommendation to retain a crossing supervisor in the area, despite the designated school crossing being at new traffic lights.
St John’s Primary School had raised concerns about the lights being an unsupervised crossing after the previous dedicated school crossing was removed.
Council now intends to move the VicRoads funded supervisor to the lights until June 2016.
VicRoads provides the city council with part-funding for 29 school crossing sites with 32 supervisors. Its contribution for the 2015-16 financial year was $112,954, an increase of 2.5 per cent. Council’s contribution to the program has increased 4.7 per cent.
The agenda for Monday’s meeting also includes the annual report and financial statements and adoption of the Local Government design manual.
