Wannon MP Dan Teahan and Victorian Senator Bridget McKenzie met with board members and senior staff last week to view detailed plans for new facilities which will ensure the service is ready for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The Mpower board is seeking $100,000 from the Commonwealth government with hope the Victorian government will match it dollar-for-dollar.
Mpower chief executive officer Kerry Nelson, said an appeal has raised $320,000 and further contributions were being sought from philanthropic trusts and the wider south-west community.
“We are also seeking a meeting with the Victorian minister for disability services Martin Foley and Western Victoria Upper House members Gayle Tierney and James Purcell,” she said.
A local tender for the building project is expected to be announced early next month, with construction work likely to begin later in October or early November.
