Network facilitator Lisette Mill received a $4000 fellowship award at this month’s Victorian Landcare Awards to research how to widely promote the economic benefits of planting shelter belts of native vegetation.
Mrs Mill will use the fellowship to travel around Australia to discuss with key stakeholders in agriculture how to achieve wider implementation of the Economic Benefits of Native Shelter Belts Report. The report was produced by the Basalt to Bay Landcare Network in 2013 and has been widely endorsed by sustainable agriculture organisations.
Mrs Mill also recently won a scholarship to participate in an Accelerated Leadership Performance Program.
The network has also won a year-long mentoring partnership with Melbourne Water for the network’s “Stepping Stone Project” that aims to rejuvenate local rivers.
