Kyle Anderson will play a series of exhibition matches at a Warrnambool Darts Association-organised function at the Flying Horse bar and brewery on Friday night.
Perth-raised Anderson, 27, is considered one of the best dart throwers in Australia and is ranked 43 on the Professional Darts Corporation circuit.
He set a new world mark for the highest three-dart average in a tournament, 134.84, during the Players Championship at Barnsley, England in April.
Warrnambool Darts Association president Leigh Giblin said Anderson, nicknamed “The Original”, featuring in Warrnambool was a coup for darts fans.
He said Anderson would play 16 exhibition matches on the night – eight against seeded WDA players and a further eight against those drawn out in a raffle.
“It’s the first time an international player has been to Warrnambool for an exhibition match,” he said.
Giblin said praise for Anderson from international champion Phil Taylor epitomised his emerging talent.
“Phil Taylor made the comment two weeks ago at the Perth Masters that if he was looking to sponsor a new player, Kyle would be his first pick,” he said.
