Dobson finished with 54 majors from 10 games after he kicked four goals in the Saints’ final-round demolition of Camperdown at Victoria Park on Saturday.
North Warrnambool Eagles recruit Dylan Parish (51 goals) and Portland teenager Jay Moody (50) rounded out the top three.
Koroit coach Adam Dowie said Dobson had to work hard for his haul after close-checking from Pies defender Daniel Seehusen in the Saints’ 20.14 (134) to 5.3 (33) victory.
“Seehusen played very well we thought and we didn’t kick the ball overly well to Sam,” he said.
Dowie said Dobson, at 23, was one of the competition’s most exciting players.
“With Jason Rowan being out and Sam Cowling playing higher (for Warrnambool), Sam is one of the best power forwards,” he said.
“If he plays the whole season the 100-goal mark might be in danger.
“He’ll keep improving and getting better.
“If we can get it into our forward 50 to him one out, he is very hard to play on.
“He’s good in the air with his vertical jump and is obviously very strong.”
Koroit will enjoy a week’s rest – reward for winning the minor premiership.
Dowie said the Saints would train three times this week as they prepare to defend their 2014 flag.
