The Bloods host Port Fairy – a side vying for a double chance – at Terang Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
They could meet again eight days later in a cut-throat final if ladder position remain in their current form.
Terang Mortlake co-captain Damian O’Connor said the Bloods were eager to end the regular season with a morale-boosting win.
“Every team wants to go into finals in winning form and we are no different,” he said.
“We have to put in a good performance to make sure we have confidence up going into finals.”
O’Connor admitted the Bloods’ form had been “a bit patchy” this season.
But he believes they have the capacity to make a mark come September.
“We haven’t played four quarters all year but the footy we’re playing at the moment is the best we’ve played all year,” O’Connor said.
“We’re still a fair way off what we can do.”
Port Fairy coach Brett Evans said talk of a Seagulls’ win and subsequent double chance were premature.
“I think people are forgetting a little bit that anything can happen,” he said.
“We have to travel to Terang to play a quality side and beat them on their home turf.
“It’s not going to be easy for us.”
Port Fairy captain Dylan Gunning will play his 50th games for the Seagulls but key defender Sam Rudolph is unavailable.
