Set Square will run in an $80,000 mares race at Caulfield on Saturday.
The reigning $1 million Oaks winner’s main target in this preparation is the $3 million Caulfield Cup on October 17.
"She's come back into work a lot stronger and robust,” Maher said.
“The beach work has definitely helped her.”
Maher, who has stables at Caulfield and Winslow, entered Set Square for the Group 1 Memsie Stakes and an open 1400-metre race on Saturday but decided on the mares race as his favourite option.
"Set Square's work on the training track has been sharp," he said.
"She's well in the race with the claim for apprentice jockey Michael Dee - having the claim against her own company made this race ideal."
Impressive Bairnsdale maiden winner Brockhoff jumps in class to the group 3 $150,000 McNeil Stakes but Maher believes the lightly-raced colt should run well.
"Brockhoff is a nice type of horse. He's drawn barrier nine which is a bit of a worry," he said.
Maher's international galloper Kapour runs in the $100,000 Premier's Cup at Rosehill.
Meanwhile, Darren Weir's Warrnambool satellite stable has numerous high profile gallopers kicking off their spring campaigns at Caulfield.
