The home state has a commanding lead after three days of play at Warrnambool Stadium this week.
It has 198 points, well clear of Tasmania (159) and Queensland (122), in its quest for a 12th Jack Gore Trophy in 13 years.
Victoria is also leading the juniors’ section, which carry the Bill Newman Trophy. It has 35 points, ahead of Tasmania (25) and South Australia (24).
Championships organiser Rex Harris said Victoria’s two women’s triples and two women’s fours sides were leading the way, occupying the top-two spots in their respective sections.
But the 39-point lead was the result of every member of the squad adding to the tally.
“The individuals don’t stand out as much as the team, that’s what’s happening here,” he said.
“Individually no one is really dominant but the overall dominance of Victoria is the prime issue.
“Individually all the competitions are pretty even, there are only a couple of points separating the leaders.
“But the teams’ event at this point looks like it’s going to Victoria unless there’s a major crash in tomorrow’s play.”
