Warrnambool City Council (WCC) is also waiving its saleyard fees to allow the foundation to benefit more from the donations of livestock.
Foundation liaison officer Jacinta Roache said the partnership with the Warrnambool Stock Agents Association and WCC built upon the “Grow It Give It” program that the foundation has run for some time with livestock producers.
Under the “Grow It Give it” program, producers raise a calf or other livestock and donate the sale proceeds to the foundation.
Ms Roache said the partnership with the agents and the saleyards would be promoted heavily during September but producers could donate any type of livestock, from a chopper cow to a calf, at any time.
Ms Roache said the foundation’s work addressed “a real gap in the care system.”
