A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a car in Melbourne's north-west following a drug-related home invasion.

The man in his 40s was found on The Esplanade in Taylors Hill after a suspected hit and run about 12pm on Monday with life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
The suspected hit and run could be linked to an earlier home invasion on Stretton Avenue in Caroline Springs, police said.
It is believed there was a confrontation at the Caroline Springs property about 11.45am, before two cars drove to Taylors Hill where the man was struck.
Two cars were then seen speeding off, not long before one car hit a median strip on nearby Taylors Road and flipped over. A large bag of marijuana was found not far from the flipped car.
Inspector Kerin Moloney said police believed the hit and run and the home invasion were linked.
"This is normally a quiet part of the western suburbs and for all three of these incidents to have occurred in less than 10 minutes is not characteristic for the area," he said.
Inspector Moloney said police were investigating if the man was intentionally hit on The Esplanade.
