The city’s temperature failed to hit double figures for the second time this month, topping out at 9.5 degrees at 1pm.
Between 1.30pm and 2pm the mercury dropped to six degrees, while the apparent temperature plummeted to -4.4 degrees.
The hail, near freezing conditions and strong winds kept Warrnambool State Emergency Service volunteers busy on Sunday.
Warrnambool SES deputy controller Adam Borthwick said volunteers attended two call-outs, both requiring repairs to roofs, which he described as tricky in the conditions.
About noon on Sunday the SES was called to a home in Silesia Court after six solar panels were damaged.
The unit was then called to a home in McPherson Crescent about 2pm after strong winds disturbed tiles.
