The Saints assistant coach switched between the midfield and half-back as Vic Country battled tough weather conditions to post a convincing 17.15 (117) to 8.7 (55) win at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
Dobson played alongside Warrnambool forward Sam Cowling in the representative squad.
Cowling kicked a goal and provided a strong presence in attack.
Vic Country coach Peter Knights said the Hampden league pair were impressive in what was a strong team performance.
“Sam played key forward for us most of the game in difficult conditions for a forward,” he said.
“The ground was really wet and it was super slippery and it was very cold but he kept presenting and giving us a target.
“Dobbo played mostly at half-back and changed through the midfield and also contributed well.
“The midfield was dominant and he was part of it.”
Knights described Vic Country’s massive win as “one out of the box”.
He said the sides’ three matches prior were decided by single figures.
The match was the feature piece in a triple-header.
Vic Country celebrated a clean-sweep, with its number two team, featuring Penshurst’s Will McGregor, and its under 19 side, which included North Warrnambool Eagles’ Sam McLachlan, producing 29 and 49 point wins respectively. McLachlan was named in the best.
