Vic Country coach Peter Knights said the pair will bring plenty to the team.
“The benefit of both Sam and Ben is their ability to play in numerous positions,” Knights said.
“I know Sam is a key forward but I would be just as comfortable playing him centre half-back as well. With Dobbo he can play as a small or medium forward or back and also as a medium midfielder. At representative level we look for those players who can adapt to a number of different roles as need be.”
Both Cowling and Dobson caught the eye of selectors not only with their club form but through their performances in Hampden’s interleague win over the Murray league earlier this season.
Koroit veteran Joe McLaren will add to the Hampden league flavour in his role as a non-playing assistant coach.
