North Warrnambool residents Ebony Porter, 20, and Tamika Cooper, 15, rode their horses Maya and Beau into town on Tuesday just to pick up some drive-thru fast food. Ebony said the trips were often met with funny looks from pedestrians and motorists, but both horses handled the traffic with ease.
“We’re so lucky,” she said. “We’ve come in a couple times, whenever we’re hungry, but they’re used to going down the roads near home where there’s trucks and people driving pretty fast.
“People are pretty respectful and slow down.”
Tamika said she had been riding horses for about five years and enjoyed her CBD trips with Ebony.
“People will get used to us one day,” she said.
