Sommerville has her arm in a cast after injuring it during the Seagulls 52-41 loss to North Warrnambool Eagles.
"I had a fall in the second quarter and landed on my wrist," Sommerville said.
"I went off and came back after half-time but I felt it every time I took a pass."
Doctors told Sommerville she could potenially have a fractured radius and the cast will be on for a week before the injury is re-assessed.
The loss has the Seagulls two wins away from the top half of the ladder but it was better news for the Eagles who are nestled in second place.
Eagles' coach Jody Roth was pleased with how her team came back after a loss to Terang Mortlake the prevoius week.
"I told the girls they needed to step up, to start with intensity and play tight and that is exactly what they did," Roth said.
"Jordyn Billings was pivotal in defence for us, we had some juniors on the court so she stepped up and showed great leadership."
Roth was glowing in her praise of Port Fairy in both how they played on Saturday and the direction they are heading.
“I love seeing coaches back their young players and that is what is happening at Port Fairy and their future is looking very bright,” Roth said.
“They are already a very good team, their shooter Emily Forrest played a beautiful game, she was just outstanding.”
Hamilton Kangaroos go into the bye with a perfect record after the first 11 rounds following a 55-34 win away over Portland. Kelsey Lewis shot 37 goals with Kangaroos coach Sara Byrne highlighting her accuracy.
"At three-quarter-time she was going at 100 per cent with her shooting," Byrne said.
"As a team it was one of our best games for the season, we had a good start which is something we have been talking about."
It was Portland's first loss since round six and has pushed them down to seventh place. Tigers coach Kerri Jennings said the Kangaroos took the early momentum.
"They shot the first four goals and they controlled the pace of the game," Jennings said.
"They slowed the game right down which we haven't been used to and it threw us out. We were 18 goals down at one stage and got it back to 10 but it blew out a bit.”
