A regular southern right whale, known as Big Coaming, has left the popular nursing spot and is expected to soon return with a calf.
Mandy Watson said the whale left the beach on Wednesday.
“It’s a good sign and normal behaviour before returning with a calf,” Ms Watson said.
“There was a southern right whale sighting at Port Fairy on Wednesday and one at Portland on Thursday.
“It could be the same one from Logans Beach moving around as part of their normal behaviour, because we still don’t know where they calve. It could be just a migrating whale moving east to west.” – JONO PECH
