Moloney slotted into the Bloods’ midfield brigade against North Warrnambool Eagles last weekend after a two-year break and quickly set the example.
Irving is hopeful Moloney can replicate that effort against Koroit at Victoria Park on Saturday.
"He will be much better for the first run,” he said.
"He is quick and really defensive as well.
"He played as a tagger for us in the past and did a little on Dean Gavin last week and kept him quiet for a while.
"He's a fierce competitor. His pressure is outstanding and it's a bit infectious too.”
Terang Mortlake has lost its past three matches.
