The singer-guitarist is about to begin radiotherapy following an operation to remove a malignant growth from his vocal cords.
“I have been given very good odds of beating it and scans have shown that it hasn't spread anywhere else,” Goldsmith said.
“I intend to get back on the stage singing and performing again as soon I can.
“Thanks to my amazing wife Kelly, the fabulous Blue Heat team and my lovely friends who have been supporting me from the start.”
Blue Heat have cancelled all their gigs for the rest of 2015 and their Facebook page has seen an outpouring of support from friends, fans and well-wishers.
The band recently released the 7” single Traded In as part of the launch of Warrnambool’s new all-vinyl, all-local label Silver Ball Records, however Goldsmith’s condition prevented Blue Heat from performing at the launch gig.
