TWO unnerving letters sent to Port Fairy residents have police interested in talking to anyone else who may have received one.
The handwritten missives were postmarked on September 4 and sent to two seemingly random names and addresses, which appeared to have come from an old phone book, according to Sergeant Brett Bodey of Port Fairy police.
The letters are “disconcerting rather than threatening”, Sergeant Bodey said.
They contain references to Satan, call their targets “arsehole” and “selfish”, and are accompanied by either a photo or a cartoon relating to the text.
Sergeant Bodey said someone else may have seen a letter and thrown it away without thinking too much about it.
But he said police would like to talk to anyone who has received one of these letters recently as it may give them more information about the source.
The letters appeared to have been written in a lined A4 exercise book and torn out.
Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the postmark came from one of only a few possible Victorian post offices.
Anyone with more information should contact Port Fairy police.
