A HAMILTON man charged with rape and sexual penetration of a person aged under 16 years will face a committal hearing next year.
Douglas Hill, 56, of Grange Street, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court yesterday.
He has been charged with 16 offences including rape and counts of sexual penetration of a person aged under 16 years.
Yesterday’s committal mention hearing was told by Office of Public Prosecutions solicitor Raeleene Maxwell that a committal hearing could last three days, with 10 witnesses expected to give evidence.
Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt set down the committal to start on February 18 next year.
The charges related to incidents alleged to have happened in the late 1990s, when Mr Hill was aged about 40 years old.
