Smith hit 43 of a possible 50 targets during the first two rounds of qualifying at the prestigious competition at Suhl, north-east of Frankfurt.
She was to take aim at another 25 targets late last night before a shootoff, if required. Russian Ekaterina Subbotina led the competition with 46/50.
Smith, also a talented netballer, missed Kolora-Noorat’s loss to Allansford in Warrnambool and District league action last Saturday.
But she will return to the Power line-up when they meet Deakin University after the mid-season break.
