The fourth-placed Pies want to break a three-game losing streak when they front up against South Warrnambool in a must-win clash at Leura Oval on Saturday.
Castles, who returned to the club after a two-year break, said Camperdown might rue narrow losses at the end of the home and away season.
They’ve fallen to Terang Mortlake (four goals), North Warrnambool Eagles (six goals) and Koroit (one goal) in the past three weeks, giving them a 5-4 record at the midway mark.
“We have to start winning the close ones,” Castles said.
“The competition is so tight and tough.
“Some seasons there are definite wins and this year it is about (who is best) on the day.”
Castles, 30, has settled back into the Magpies’ back court this season after a two-year break from the sport.
The former Sebastopol and Ballarat Pride player gave birth to her third child Margot in 2013 and spent 2014 living with her family in the Kimberleys.
Her husband James found work in Hall Creek as a teacher and they spent 12 months in Western Australia.
But Castles, who is studying nursing, said her family was entrenched in the Camperdown community.
She said she enjoyed the Western District.
“This is our home,” she said.
