Cobden ready to get down to business

COBDEN business owners have been urged to get behind the Cobden Business Network, which will be launched tomorrow.

Progressing Cobden member Kelvin White said it was important that business people within the community saw the value in the concept.

“Given the challenging times we’re facing it will be a lot easier for us to survive and thrive together,” he said.

“Both businesses and the community are generally behind it.”

The network will be launched by Corangamite Shire councillor Jo Beard.

Network convenor Trevor Clarke said RSVPs for the launch had been strong.

“We are hoping for a big contingent of businesspeople to support the establishment of this new and dynamic organisation,” he said.

“The group has the potential to promote commercial activity in Cobden by keeping local business informed and proactive.

“The network’s mission statement, a message to the community and a calendar of events and activities will be presented at the launch.”

The first business of the month will also be announced at the launch, to be held at the Cobden Sports Club from 5.30pm.

The network was established to maintain and expand local business activity and comprises district retailers, tradespeople, manufacturers and service organisations.

The business of the month will receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured in the town’s newsletter.

To be eligible, owners or managers need to complete a nomination form and return it to kelvin@swllen.net.au
