Police call for help over Allansford firearms theft

THE theft of firearms from an Allansford property on the weekend has prompted police to call for help from the public.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Bourke, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said a rural property on Staffords Road was entered between 6pm on Saturday and 9.30am Sunday.

“The offenders have gained entry to the shed after using force to open a sliding window and have then stolen a number of firearms and tools before leaving the property,” he said.

“I am urging anyone who may have seen anyone or vehicles acting suspiciously in the Staffords Road area between those times to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppers.com.au

Detective Senior Constable Bourke said the theft of firearms was always a worry for police.

He urged owners of rural properties to keep an eye out for their neighbours and report any suspicious activity.
