PANMURE has broken a 10-year premiership drought with a thrilling win against three-time premier Kolora-Noorat.

The Simon O'Keefe-coached side defeated the Power 9.4 (58) to 7.12 (54) in the Warrnambool and District league grand final at Reid Oval today.

Bulldog Shamus O'Beirne won the Scotty Stewart Medal for best on ground voted by observers, and teammate Daniel Roache won the VCFL Medal, voted by umpires. Gary Robinson kicked three goals for the premier.

Kolora-Noorat assistant coach Sam Moloney booted four majors and was the Power's best player, along with Luke Kenna and Mark Clissold.

Panmure trailed by 19 points midway through the third quarter but kicked four goals in a row to hit the last break with a five-point advantage.

Moloney put Kolora-Noorat back in front with the opening goal of the last term, before Nathan Shand ensured he would go down in history with the final, and match-winning, goal.

WDFNL netball powerhouse Merrivale has avenged last year's grand final defeat with a dramatic 36-27 defeat of Dennington in the A grade grand final.

Tigers goal defence Monique Sefton won best-on-court honours and coach Danielle McInerney shot 21 goals to lead all scorers.

Lani Barling hit 18 nets for the Dogs, who had league best and fairest Sarah Higgins as their best player.

Dennington goal keeper Sue Fleming went down in the second quarter with a suspected Achilles injury.

Umpires suspended play and shifted the game to Reid Oval's second netball court as trainers tended to Fleming.

A series of injury time-outs then meant the game finished at 3.55pm - almost an hour later than scheduled.

Meanwhile, Warrnambool is through to the Hampden league senior football grand final after a come-from-behind second semi-final win against Cobden at Koroit today.

The Blues trailed by seven points early in the last term, and were still four points down when Bomber Tim Horan goaled 20 minutes in.

But a Travis Graham set shot, six consecutive behinds and a Jason Rowan sealer allowed Scott Carter's men to prevail.

Koroit upstaged Camperdown in a thrilling A grade second semi-final 52-48, which went to extra time after scores were tied 39-all at full time.
