The boom Blues recruit has a hamstring strain, ruling him out of the Hampden league round six clash at Reid Oval tomorrow.

McIntyre has kicked 14 majors as a goalkicking midfielder this season.

Warrnambool coach Scott Carter said the Blues expected McIntyre back “sooner rather than later” but would take a cautious approach with the former Adelaide Crow.

“I wouldn’t say it is a major hamstring but with hamstrings it’s hard to put a time on it,” Carter said.

“At this time of year he won’t play until he’s cherry ripe.

“We don’t want anything to linger or reoccur.”

Warrnambool made three changes at the selection table, bringing in dual premiership player Jake O’Donnell (foot), TAC Cup-listed Luke McLeod and Hampden under 18½ interleague vice-captain James Willsher.

Teenagers Dylan Cox and Liam Bishop were omitted.

Camperdown, aiming to respond after its first loss of the season at Port Fairy, elevated former Simpson teenager Lachlan Bone for his senior debut in place of the injured Tyler Fowler (ankle). 

Former Melbourne footballer Daniel Nicholson headlines Port Fairy’s inclusions for its clash against South Warrnambool at Friendly Societies’ Park.

Nicholson will make his Seagulls debut after overcoming a foot injury.

Midfielder Michael Sheehan and forward Robbie Hare also come in for Port Fairy, which will be without Jackson Hollmer (VFL), Tyrone Bean (AFL curtain-raiser) and Josh Down (omitted).

Sheehan is a surprise inclusion, only two weeks after suffering a broken finger at training.

Seagulls coach Brett Evans said he was thrilled to have Sheehan back.

“He has a break in his finger but has a little cast which straightens it out and provided it’s taped up it’s not as bad as we first thought,” he said.

Three South Warrnambool teenagers were called up for TAC Cup commitments.

Creative forward Charlie Lee and key position prospect Shannon Beks will play for North Ballarat Rebels and utility Josh Alexander will don Northern Knights’ colours.

They join fellow Rooster Hugh McCluggage in the under 18 statewide competition’s team this weekend.

Jake O’Sullivan (illness) will also miss.

South Warrnambool brought in classy teenager Kyden Jarvis, ruckman Lachlan Mackay, veteran Robbie Gregg and former South Rovers player Andy Rylance for his first senior game for the club.

Roosters coach Nigel Kol said he was rapt to have North Ballarat Rebels-listed Jarvis back in the line-up.

“He’s a real ball magnet for us and has a lot of polish in front of goals,” Kol said. 

North Warrnambool Eagles small forward Jarryd Lewis (hamstring tightness) and midfielder Jye Bidmade (adductor) will miss the match against Portland, which welcomes back defender Luke Van Heugten.

Terang Mortlake will be without forward Jarryd Hay for its clash against Hamilton Kangaroos.

Hay is carrying a minor injury which is only expected to sideline him for one week.

Teenager Ben Finnerty will return to the under 18½s.
