Gold Medals ran seventh in the listed Warrnambool Cup on May 7, finishing less then seven lengths behind Tall Ship.
The five-year-old ran third in last year’s Casterton Cup after a similar campaign to this year.
“I’m sure Gold Medals will run a cheeky race,” Wilde said.
“He’s drawn well. I thought his run in the Warrnambool Cup was good. He drops a bit in class here which he should appreciate.
“I would say he’s going much the same as last year so he should be very competitive.
“We ran him on the first day at Warrnambool and then backed him up in the cup on the last day so we have not done much work with him since Warrnambool.
“We’ve freshened him up a bit with some beach work and he’s quite bright.”
Gold Medals is rated a 10/1 chance in the early betting markets for the feature flat race.
Three jumps races are set down for decision on the eight-race program.
The opening race, a restricted hurdle, has attracted five acceptors while a maiden hurdle over 3300 metres will have 12 runners.
Promising steeplechaser Mannertone lines up in the $30,000 open steeplechase over 3800 metres.
The Casterton Cup will be run at 3.08pm.
