On Thursday and yesterday, students from the college sports academies hosted activity days at the school and the Mack Oval.
Students from the netball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer and cricket academies held sessions focusing on their chosen sports.
More than 420 grade 5/6 children from Warrnambool, Merrivale, Woodford, Port Fairy Consolidated and West Warrnambool Primary schools took part in the day.
Physical education teacher at Warrnambool College Jackson Greene said the day coincided with education week and was part of the primary links program in which the school is involved.
He said it gave the academy students the chance to provide peer coaching for younger students.
“It was a great chance for the primary school children to try the different sports and meet students from other schools,” Mr Greene said.
“And for our academy students, it was great for them to learn to pass on the skills they have learnt and modify the sessions to fit with the children they are teaching.
“The other advantage of the day was to introduce primary school-aged children to a variety of sports and to get them interested in playing sport and staying fit and healthy.”
