STATE Emergency Services (SES) have warned south-west residents to be wary of falling tree branches with today's strong winds.
Lismore's SES removed a tree limb blocking Skipton-Ballarat Road around noon, after towing a cypress tree from Heards Road at Derrinallum last night.
Strong and gusty westerly airflow has been forecast over Victoria's south-west, with damaging winds of around 60 to 70 km/h expected to peak with gusts of 100 km/h.
The severe weather warning will gradually ease from the west tomorrow and early Saturday but the SES has advised people to:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony; and
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
Sheep graziers have also been warned that cold temperatures, showers and strong westerly winds are expected during tomorrow and Saturday.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, there is a high risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to the harsh conditions.
