The log truck rolled, spilling its load at 8.20am yesterday about 15km west of Portland on the Portland-Nelson Road.
The driver, 61, was trapped for about 50 minutes and treated by paramedics before State Emergency Service volunteers managed to free him from the cabin.
He was assessed, treated for a fractured collarbone and then flown to Melbourne in a life-threatening condition.
Police controlled traffic around the accident scene while heavy haulage was called in.
