Off-duty cop busts Portland hoon

A PORTLAND hoon had his car impounded on Tuesday after numerous witnesses, including an off-duty police officer, saw him performing burn-outs in broad daylight.

The man was seen driving his car recklessly at 11.10am at the roundabout on the Wellington Road overpass, police said.

“We had a number of calls from witnesses, including one from an off-duty police officer,” Sergeant Martin Flannery, of Portland police, said.

“It’s just disgraceful behaviour, especially on a busy roundabout.”

Police seized the car, which will remain impounded for 30 days.

“Unfortunately this is not the first time this person has been caught for hoon behaviour, so this person is obviously not learning their lesson,” Sergeant Flannery said.

The man will appear in court at a later date.
