It was the year that Foreigner, Tina Turner and Tears For Fears were pumping out power ballads. Memories were rekindled when Warrnambool High students staged their first reunion since the last school bell rang in November 1985.
More than 60 people from across the country attended the Saturday night reunion at the Whaler’s Hotel.
Mandy Johnston helped organise the event. She said it showed high school friendships lasted a lifetime.
“It was the first time we’ve ever held a reunion and 1985 was a long time ago, but it didn’t make much difference,” she said.
“We really just picked up where we left off and everyone was chatting about the old school days.”
A classroom tour was held at Warrnambool College on Saturday afternoon and dozens of photographs were displayed at the evening event.
“There was a lot of good music, a lot of bad music. Our common room theme in our final year was Meatloaf’s Paradise By The Dashboard Light, so that got a bit of airplay,” Ms Johnston said.
