Pickett went down in the second quarter of the Warriors’ win against East Warrnambool at Reid Oval last Saturday, with club officials initially fearing the worst.
But while the anterior cruciate ligament remains intact, he has a minor tear in a lateral ligament and faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines.
Warriors selectors named Vinnie Fogarty in the ruck to take on Kolora-Noorat in the Anzac Day blockbuster at Davidson Oval tomorrow.
Support is likely to come from key-position player Jimmy Ryan given second-choice ruckman Darren Lloyd also sidelined through injury.
“We’ve still got some depth there. It’s not ideal but we’ll work around it,” coach Daryl Beechey said.
“(Fogarty) chopped out when needed a little bit last year and again this year. He’ll have to shoulder a bit more.
“His follow-up work is pretty good. He does work around the ground pretty hard. He’ll stand up.”
Pickett was one of two omissions for the Warriors. Josh Walsh is unavailable, paving the way for Ben Rantall and Jordan Wallace to return.
Kolora-Noorat also made two changes, regaining Paul McSween and Justin Hicks at the expense of Nathan Cahir (knee) and Brad Hillman (hamstring).
The Warriors-Power clash is the only Warrnambool and District league fixture going ahead on Saturday. The five others are on Sunday.
Elsewhere, in-form Dennington forward Alex Pye will miss the Dogs’ match against East Warrnambool at Dennington Recreation Reserve with rib problems.
Dogs coach Darcy Lewis said Pye “didn’t come up too flash” from a collision with Merrivale big man Rhys Raymond last Saturday and could miss a fortnight.
Clinton Hall is out with a shoulder injury also sustained against the Tigers while Tim Chatfield experienced hamstring tightness at training midweek.
Matt O’Rourke gets his chance to cement a spot in the forward line, Kurt Smith returns while Tom Fitzgerald earns a promotion from being the substitute.
East Warrnambool welcomes back Peter Shepherd, Kevin Moloney and Sam Coleman while Torquay recruit Oliver Harris will play his first match with the club.
“He’s probably six-three or six-four, he’s a good size. We’ll try him out against Dennington and see how he goes,” coach Paul Butters said.
Allansford has lost Sam Holloway and Jason Wilson for its trip to Timboon Recreation Reserve but regains Sam Doukas and Shaun Watson.
Timboon Demons also experienced a setback at the selection table, omitting big man Grant Mitchell and promoting Jack Osborne.
“He’s been working, hasn’t trained the last couple of weeks. We’re starting to get some numbers at training,” Demons co-coach Norm Vogels said.
“He’s done nothing wrong. His first game was really good, but he probably needs to have a full game in the twos.”
Panmure will welcome back experienced pair Tim Condon and Tom White when it hosts Merrivale at Panmure Recreation Reserve.
But coach David Haynes remains at least a week away. Kallan Melican and Patrick Sztynda make way.
Merrivale made four changes, adding Koroit recruit Tim Carter for his first match of the season. Joe Woonton and Lachlan Kelly are also additions.
South Rovers coach Nathan Isles is among three additions for the Lions’ trip to the Pond to play Deakin University, having recovered from a hip complaint.
Josh Brown and Kyeran Ellery are the additions, in place of Wes Isles (hamstring), Ethan Boylan (omitted) and Matt Wood (omitted).
The Sharks regained key forward James Crawford, among four changes. Sam Bushaway and Jordan Lahy are also welcome returnees.
And former American college footballer Matt Foster is the big inclusion at Russells Creek, which hosts Nirranda at Mack Oval.
Zach Westwick and Brad Everall are also among five changes at the Kangaroos, although Allie Clarke (knee) and Jordan Umbers (hamstring) are sidelined.
