Council announced the recipients of its second round of community assistance grants at its last meeting.
Twenty applicants were successful from 26 submissions, receiving a total of $122,271. The council allocated nearly $195,000 in its first round of funding.
Guidelines allow the council to hand out up to $20,000 for the development of facilities and $5000 for community programs.
Groups must match any money they receive with their own contributions.
Broadwater Tennis Club received $20,000 to replace its court surface while the Koroit Lions Club also received the maximum amount for a playground along the rail trail.
The other project to receive $20,000 was a toilet upgrade at the Tarrone Recreation Reserve.
Other projects include repair works at the Nullawarre Kindergarten ($13,200), a replacement vehicle for the Port Fairy SES ($10,000), installation of a shearwater sculpture at Griffiths Island in Port Fairy and oval maintenance at the Hawkesdale Recreation Reserve (both $5000).
Grants will also benefit communities in smaller areas such Winslow, Ellerslie and Purnim.
Cr Jim Doukas praised the role the community assistance fund played.
“This is one of the things the Moyne Shire Council is really good at,” Cr Doukas said.
“It is spread throughout the entire shire and gives leverage for groups and clubs to duplicate funding.”
