Experienced onballer Joe Kenna was clear best on ground in the 26.24 (180) to 1.5 (11) triumph at Noorat Recreation Reserve.
The Power was rarely troubled but had to work hard during a 5.5 to 1.3 first term, with the Sharks matching their opponent for clearances and inside 50s.
But class eventually proved more valuable than endeavour, with terms of six, eight and seven goals ensuring the mismatch on paper became reality.
Kenna was everywhere, producing a performance all but certain to earn him three votes in the J. A. Esam Medal count.
He kicked seven goals and racked up possessions and clearances at will in the midfield before finishing the match at half-back.
He was not alone. Jono Gleeson was likewise prolific, particularly in the first half and recruit Joe Conheady proved how dangerous he will be this season.
Paul McSween led hard and marked well, although his one-goal tally should have been four or five such was his inaccuracy from set shots.
Matt Fidge and Jake Richardson dominated in the centre square, former coach Ben Kenna was a general in defence and Joe O'Sullivan found plenty of ball.
There were others, too. Nick Kenna and Martin Wynd booted two goals each and were lively in the forward line, as was Damien Wynd in the second half.
The only negatives to emerge were a calf injury to assistant coach Matt Harkin while Brad Hillman sat out much of the second half after copping a head knock.
Deakin University was outclassed but far from disgraced, despite the lopsided scoreline.
The Sharks' want for the contest early was encouraging and a trimmed-down Ash Johnstone staked an early claim for club best-and-fairest favouritism.
Johnstone was clearly their best, with his clearance work particularly eye catching. Big men James Crawford and Mitch Hodgson also toiled tirelessly.
Aidan Bourke, Jordan Lahy, Brad Rodgers - who has also enjoyed a bumper pre-season - and Harry Young were also among their best.
They finished the match with one man on the bench after Sam Bushaway and Lachlan Hetherington suffered injuries.
Bushaway emerged second-best from a friendly fire incident, but was later cleared of a suspected fractured eye socket, while Hetherington rolled an ankle.
In the A grade netball, Kolora-Noorat emerged with the points thanks to a 45-23 defeat of Deakin University.
Penny Smith, Claire O'Connor and Tania Barbary led the way for the Power. Liz Fowler, Lisa Anders and Eden Brown were the Sharks' best.
