It will employ 22 staff to cater for customers locally and throughout the region.
Outdoor signage on the Koroit Street premises was attached yesterday and the internal fit-out is scheduled to be completed by mid-April for the official opening.
The existing business outlet at the Harvey Norman complex on the city’s eastern fringe will be closed.
CBA general manager for regional and agri-business banking in Victoria and Tasmania, Darryl Mohr, said the bank was keen to support the CBD.
“We’ve strategically moved into an area that is heavy with locations of professional services firms that our customers are leveraging on a regular basis,” Mr Mohr said.
“This location is very close to many of the services.
“Firms in the area are delighted to see us move back into the CBD.
“We’ve made this move to make sure we can meet our customer needs in a timely manner and collaborate well with our retail banking colleagues nearby (Liebig Street).”
Mr Mohr said CBA was “very optimistic” on the growth prospects of regional Victoria, in particular the south-west.
“We see tremendous growth opportunities, hence we are investing in new premises and new customer-facing facilities to engage in conversations not only with existing customers, but prospective customers.”
