Darrell Brown, 49, of Grieve Street, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to trafficking methamphetamines and cannabis.
He was placed on an 18-month community corrections order
Police said that Warrnambool divisional response unit officers started an operation on cannabis trafficking in February last year, targeting one of Brown’s associates by using telephone recordings.
On October 11 last year Brown was intercepted driving a blue Holden Astra. He was found with four grams of cannabis and had something down the front of his pants, from which a ziplock bag containing .4 grams of speed fell out.
In August last year police were focusing on trafficking amphetamines.
On December 3 officers executed a search warrant at Brown’s Grieve Street home and found three mobile phones, scales and a shotgun.
Brown admitted to trafficking speed for four months and cannabis for 12 months, between seven and 14 grams of cannabis a week and between .1 grams and one gram of speed a week.
Defence counsel Amanda Chambers said according to her client he had been a drug user for some time but he could only be described as a low-level dealer.
She said Brown provided drugs to his mates and they gave him money to cover his costs.
