The Warrnambool fighter defeated Werribee’s Omar Dib on Sunday night to claim the 69-71 kilogram bout by unanimous decision.
Dart and Dib battled for four two-minute rounds at Springvale Town Hall.
The Spartan Combat Systems athlete impressed his coach David Gibb.
“It went to the judges but was a unanimous decision,” Gibb said.
“There were a few times where the other guy put some pressure on but nothing really seemed to worry Lachlan.
“Lachlan dropped his opponent in the third round and got a standing eight count.
“Lachlan really stuck to the game plan and really punished his (Dib’s) legs.
“He controlled the fight well, not letting the guy use what he wanted to.”
Gibb conceded there were nervous moments throughout the fight. “A couple of times Lachie caught his opponent’s kicks,” he said.
“It was my fault. I didn’t realise you can’t do that in kickboxing. I was worried he’d then lose too many points.”
Dart has a strong background in Muay Thai, a martial art which allows competitors to use hands, feet, knees and elbows.
He will now concentrate on that discipline.
“There is nothing locked in at this stage. He’ll just keep training,” Gibb said.
