Telstra is providing free Wi-Fi for all festivalgoers this weekend, irrespective of which telco powers their device.
Area general manager Bill Mundy said it was part of a nationwide trial and an extension of the company’s commitment to mobile services at the festival.
He said a mobile cell on wheels will also be set up to eliminate network crowding that had plagued Port Fairy in recent years as the town’s population swells to 30,000.
“We decided to trial free internet at various events to see how it’s received, so we want to know what people think and if they found it valuable.”
Mr Mundy said Telstra has also flicked the switch on the super-fast 4GX network in Port Fairy.
“4GX will deliver high-speed data downloads and address service issues in Port Fairy in general,” he said.
