PANMURE teenager Kelly Jones will use the Bulldogs' semi-final loss to Merrivale to spur her on against Dennington in Warrnambool and District's A grade preliminary final today.
Jones, 18, said Panmure fought hard in the 38-34 loss.
"I was pretty gutted after last week because I thought it was a good game for us but there were opportunities we didn't take," she said.
"We can build from last week's game.
"We have worked pretty hard for it.
"We are not confident but feel positive about it."
PANMURE teenager Kelly Jones will use the Bulldogs' semi-final loss to Merrivale to spur her on against Dennington in Warrnambool and District's A grade preliminary final today.
Jones plays in the midcourt for Panmure, predominantly in wing attack.
Panmure coach Mandy Condon said Jones was having her most consistent season and had stepped up from A reserve to play her part in the Bulldogs' strong A grade season.
Jones has played in both grades during her time with the club.
"It didn't worry me which team I play in because I know all the girls and enjoy playing in both grades," she said.
Jones, who spent 2011 playing 17 and unders for Warrnambool, said her form had been "not too bad".
"Like everyone you have good weeks and bad weeks," she said.
The Emmanuel College year 12 student moved to the area from Bacchus Marsh when she was in year seven.
She has had a connection with Panmure since.
"When we first moved here it was a welcoming club and the whole town was welcoming and friendly," Jones said.
"Even if you are losing, you still enjoy yourself."
Jones, who coached Panmure's 15 and under side this season, said Condon and Lisa Andrew had helped her become a more-rounded player.
"They have given me confidence in myself," she said.
Next year, Jones hopes to study PE teaching, possibly in Ballarat.
She's unsure whether she will commute home to play for Panmure .
