The size 44 shoes were discovered at Pickering Point. The other unusual item among the rubbish was a toilet that had been discarded at Levys Point.
Warrnambool City Council waste management officer Kate McInnes said volunteers filled two skips, one with rubbish and one with recyclables, during Sunday’s event.
Other community groups took rubbish they had collected directly to transfer stations.
Ms McInnes said a diverse mix of organisations rolled up their sleeves and got involved, along with some individuals.
Environmental groups were well represented along with sporting groups, bushwalkers, anglers and service clubs.
Ms McInnes said without their efforts, at least two skips of rubbish would still be polluting the city’s beaches, parks and wetlands.
On Saturday, 288 vehicles passed through the gate during the annual Detox Your Home program at the Warrnambool saleyards.
Ms McInnes said it was good to see so many people do the right thing by their community and the environment by responsibly disposing of potentially dangerous materials.
