Show secretary Michelle Holmes said competing regional events on Saturday “might have” reduced the crowd to about 700 people, but they were all well entertained by lots of country fun.
“It was a great community day,” Mrs Holmes said.
The entertainment included a tractor pull in which drivers competed to pull the heaviest agricultural object, a sheep dog demonstration and a dog jump.
The dog jump competition, which had categories for small, medium and large animals, had the canines leaping impressive heights over barriers at the encouragement of their handlers.
Children got a feel for performance art at a circus skills workshop and new winners showed a good turn of speed to usurp the past champions in the 20-metre-long dachshund dash.
Mrs Holmes said the horse, sheep and cattle competitions were all well supported.
“There were a lot of entries,” she said.
A reptile display and an animal nursery that featured a local camel also drew lots of attention.
“We had good weather. The main rain held off,” Mrs Holmes said.
