Dart will meet Werribee’s Omar Dib at Springvale Town Hall tomorrow night.
The pair, one of eight duos on the fight card, will battle for four two-minute rounds to determine the winner.
Spartan Combat Systems coach David Gibb said Dart was ready for the challenge.
“He has been training really well and is looking very sharp,” he said.
Dart and Dib will meet in the ring for the first time but Gibb is confident his charge can salute.
“He is a tough opponent and he won’t be a pushover but if Lachie sticks to the game plan and fights smart, he shouldn’t be a problem.”
Dart has a strong background in Muay Thai, a martial art where fighters can use hands, feet, knees and elbows. Kickboxing is restricted to hands and feet.
“He has fought more Muay Thai competitions but the opportunity for this fight came up so we took it,” Gibb said.
“His hands are great and he had great movement and footwork. That’s what we’ve been really working on for this one. He trains really hard mornings and evenings.”
Dart has trained under Gibb at Spartan Combat Systems for the past 12 months.
“He’s shown huge improvement since I have been coaching him in all aspects -— fitness, strength, skills and speed,” Gibb said.
“Lachie is the only active competitor at the moment but there are a number of up-and-comers ready to take the step into competition. We have close to 50 students, including kids’ classes I run.”
